Floating off Pier 6, near Atlantic Avenue

Police told the Brooklyn Eagle late Monday afternoon that a body found floating off of Pier 6 at the southern end of Brooklyn Bridge Park was still unidentified.

The NYPD’s Harbor Unit responded at roughly 6:30 a.m. to a call regarding the sighting near Atlantic Avenue, a police spokesperson told the Brooklyn Eagle.

The Harbor Unit pulled a man who appears to be in his 20s out of the water. He was pronounced dead on shore and transported to the Medical Examiner, according to police.

Many popular attractions are situated at the southern end of the park, including playgrounds, a ferry dock, restaurants, lawns and volleyball courts.

In another incident, a man abandoned his car on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and jumped to his death Sunday morning, according to the Staten Island Advance.
